Find out more about what we have been up to on this page.

Below you can view the project short film and family album. Both of these have been curated by the project trainees, who also collected all the material featured. It was then designed and produced by Elly Alex Creative.

The film and album have been produced within the context of the two major 2022 anniversaries: the 50th anniversary of the expulsion of the South Asian community from Uganda in 1972, by Idi Amin; and the 75th anniversary of partition and independence. Both are major events for those South Asians that experienced it, their families, yet too for this island nation.

We hope that the film and album commemorate these events, as well as testify to the wonderful work undertaken through the project by all the participants.

You can also find details of all our events below, as well as project photographs. Enjoy!

Plus chai, nashto (snacks) and cake.

We appeared at the Cambridge Mela in July 2022, then delivered our training sessions in oral history in July, August and October 2022. Therefore, we collected oral history interviews.

If we do not actively remember and capture these stories, and learn about these histories, they will disappear forever, as generations pass on. Theses histories will be lost.
